Creepy, but I back him: ’Bama gov

- Denis Slattery

ALABAMA GOV. Kay Ivey said Friday there’s no reason to doubt the disturbing allegations against embattled GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore — but she plans to vote for him anyway.

Eight women have accused Moore of sexually harassing or assaulting them, most when they were in their teens, including one who was only 14 at the time.

“I believe in the Republican Party, what we stand for, and most important, we need to have a Republican in the United States Senate to vote on things like the Supreme Court justices, other appointments the Senate has to confirm and make major decisions,” Ivey said, according to AL.com. “So that’s what I plan to do, vote for Republican nominee Roy Moore.”

A number of senior congressional Republicans — including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan — have urged Moore to step down amid the damning sexual assault allegations.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said President Trump “feels like it’s up to the governor and the people in the state of Alabama to make a determination on whether or not to delay that election or whether or not they support and vote for Roy Moore.”
