Admitted liar: I did talk to Prez

- Denis Slattery Denis Slattery

THE TRUMP campaign adviser who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI claimed last year he spoke directly to President Trump more than once and was promised a job in Washington, it was reported Friday.

George Papadopoulos spoke to a pair of Greek reporters during the campaign, telling them then-candidate Trump called him personally about his role as a foreign-policy adviser and that the two met more than once, Politico reported.

The claims, of which the journalists were skeptical, counter assertions made by Trump, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and other Trump officials that Papadopoulos’ involvement with the campaign was limited.

A source close to the Chicago native told Politico his claims were not true. ATTORNEY GENERAL Jeff Sessions jokingly asked if any Russians were present before addressing the Federalist Society at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington — the hotel at which he could not “recall” having any conversations with Russian officials.

“I just was thinking, you know, I want to ask you, is Ambassador Kislyak in the room? Before I get started here, any Russians?” he said, to laughter from the audience. “Got a cousin in Russia or something?”

Sessions had testified before Congress that he had not met with any Russians during the 2016 campaign, and later acknowledged he had.
