Racial comments on video land Jones in hot water
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones appeared in a bizarre video making the rounds on the Internet in which he made what can be interpreted as either a racially charged, or just very stupid, comment.
The video was reportedly taken in 2013 at a wedding at the Warwick Melrose Hotel in Dallas. Jones, with his jacket slung over his shoulder, is asked if he has a message for the special couple.
“Jennifer, congratulations on the wedding,” he said. “Now, you know he’s with a black girl tonight, don’t you?”
He laughs after making the weird comment, and then playfully acknowledges another apparent partygoer, who is black.
“That comment was inappropriate,” Jones said in a statement Friday, according to the Dallas Morning News’ David Moore. “It’s not who I am, and I’m sorry.”
The wedding video was first published online by the site theBlast.com, which reports the video was submitted by a tipster. When reached for comment by the site, a source reportedly said “F --k Jerry Jones!”
Judging by what Jones has been up to the last month, the source could be any number of people who have it out for him.
