FORDHAM FALLS

Freshman reserve Mfiondu Kabengele scored 15 points, Terance Mann added 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting and Florida State rolled to a 67-43 win over Fordham in the Jamaica Classic on Friday night.

Will Tavares scored 18 points for Fordham, 12 in the second half when he made 5 of 8 shots. His teammates were 1-of-21 in the second half.

l Tayler Persons poured in 29 points on 12-of-18 shooting and keyed a late run as Ball State rallied to defeat Stony Brook 87-76 in their home opener. U.C. Iroegbu scored 18 and Junior Saintel notched a double-double — 16 points, 10 rebounds — for the Seawolves. Akwasi Yeboah added 15 points, five boards and four assists.

l Rod Mills Jr. came off the bench to score 19 points and Logan McLane and Jalen Adaway finished with double-doubles to help Miami (OH) hold off LIUBrooklyn 78-74 at the Jamaica Classic. Joel Hernandez tossed in 25 points for the Blackbirds (1-3). He added nine rebounds and five assists. Zach Coleman hit six 3-pointers and scored 20 with nine rebounds, while Raiquan Clark, who came in averaging a team-best 24 points per game, scored 15.
