WHAT TRAVELERS CAN EXPECT
MORE PEOPLE since 2005 will travel at least 50 miles from home this Thanksgiving. Here are some stats to whet your appetite: 50.9 million people will travel 50 miles or more on the Thanksgiving holiday. Motor vehicles will be the preferred mode of transportation for 89% of holiday travelers, or 45.5 million people. Nearly 4 million flIers will take to the skies. Travel by trains, buses and cruises will reach 1.5 million trips. Gas prices average $2.56 a gallon nationally, 41 cents higher than a year ago. Airfare is $157 for an average round trip, compared with $205 for tickets last year.
