Top N.Y. judge selects hubby as panel chair
ALBANY — The state’s chief judge named her husband as a cochairman of a panel she created to recommend changes to the state constitution to make the courts more efficient.
Judge Janet DiFiore reconvened the panel after voters rejected the idea of a convention to recommended changes to the state constitution.
DiFiore (photo) last week named her retired lawyer husband of 36 years, Dennis Glazer, as an unpaid co-chairman of the panel of judges, attorneys and academics.
DiFiore spokesman Lucian Chalfen defended the appointment, saying Glazer is one of 14 panelists.
“It’s not like it’s a secret they’re married,” Chalfen said. “If she is comfortable enough to say, ‘I know someone . . . who has the knowledge and ability to bring forth what I want, which is ideas for change,’ why wouldn’t she choose him?”
