GIANTS at WASHINGTON

-

HANK’S HONEYS:

Chris Thompson’s season-ending broken leg is just the first item on an injury list that even coach Jay Gruden says, “just goes on and on.” Washington is hurting on both lines and at safety and the short week won’t help anyone heal faster. Blowing a 15-point lead late in the Superdome was among the franchise’s worst defeats, so morale has to be at hang-dog levels. Meanwhile, the Giants can at least feel better about themselves. Offense is still abysmal but the defense finally played according to its preseason expectations. Giants, and Eli Manning in particular, usually play well at FedEx Field, where they have won eight of last 11 SU. With the spread this big, they’re worth a play.

IF I WERE A BETTING MAN: Giants and the under.
