Andy making ’em wait for pre-K OK
IT COULD become a pre-K, but for now it’s a civics lesson.
Top city officials are calling on Gov. Cuomo to sign a bill allowing the city to build a cutting-edge prekindergarten school at the New York Hall of Science.
The $50 million Pre-K Center would enroll 300 kids with a focus on science, engineering, math and the arts. But since the space the city Department of Education wants to use for the center is part of Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, any development requires Cuomo’s approval.
De Blasio administration officials say the bill has been on Cuomo’s desk since Nov. 17 and he has until Tuesday to sign it.
Deputy Mayor Richard Buery urged Cuomo to sign the legislation.
Cuomo administration officials said the Hall of Science bill is one of hundreds that Cuomo is considering and the governor has 10 days to sign any bill before him.
