Bloom’s off for Rose at universities
DISGRACED broadcaster Charlie Rose was stripped of two prestigious journalism awards Friday in the wake of allegations that he made unwanted sexual advances on women.
Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication rescinded its hallmark award it gave Rose in 2015.
“This unprecedented action is taken with the utmost seriousness and deliberation. We are not in the business of trying to rewrite history,” the school’s founding dean, Christopher Callahan, said in a statement.
The William Allen White Foundation, which supports the journalism at the University of Kansas, also took back an award it gave Rose in the spring.
PBS and CBS both cut ties with Rose after the The Washington Post detailed extensive allegations of sexual harassment of his subordinates.
