Feeling reborn, Claiborne set for comeback vs.

-

The Jets reaped the benefits of their bye. This weekend, for the first time since Week 6 and just the second time all season, they will enter a game without any player officially ruled out. Most notably, cornerback Morris Claiborne — who sat out a Week 9 win over the Bills with a sprained foot before pulling himself from the following week’s loss to the Bucs — will be a full go Sunday against the Panthers, according to Todd Bowles.

Claiborne practiced fully Thursday for the first time since injuring his foot in Week 8 against the Falcons. He practiced fully again on Friday and reported feeling “a lot better” than he did in Tampa, where he left the contest in the first quarter.

“I felt good at that time, it’s just I didn’t feel like I could perform at a high level,” Claiborne said of the Bucs game. “I don’t want to be the cause of any big plays or anything like that happening. So I felt like me being out there at that time, it was basically hurting the team.”

“I couldn’t really turn, like plant off that foot and turn to go downhill,” Claiborne added. “And playing on one leg and playing against DeSean Jackson, that ain’t going to match up well.”

Claiborne isn’t feeling “much of anything right now” in the foot. “Everything has been pretty smooth,” he said.

Meanwhile, running back Matt Forte returned to practice Friday in a limited role. He hadn’t practiced in any capacity since his surgically repaired right knee swelled up after the Bills game. Forte, who sat out against the Bucs, is officially questionable for Sunday’s game. So is Muhammad Wilkerson, whose shoulder issue is no longer listed on the injury report.

The Panthers are getting healthier, as well. All-Pro tight end Greg Olsen (broken foot) was activated off injured reserve Friday and will suit up at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

“He’s an all-around tight end. He’s another one. We’ve been facing a lot of them lately,” Bowles said of Olsen. “He can block. He can run routes. He can line up like a wideout. He can line up like a fullback. He can line up like a tight end. It just gives them more ammo.”
