President Donald Trump just will not let go of his battle with the NFL.

The president continued to complain via Twitter about the NFL player protests early Friday morning, with his latest tweet targeting Giants defensive end Olivier Vernon.

The president quote tweeted an individual who posted a story about Vernon “not being thankful” after he knelt for the national anthem before Thursday’s game against Washington.

“Can you believe the disrespect for our Country, our Flag, our Anthem continues without penalty to the players,” Trump wrote. “The Commissioner has lost control of the hemorrhaging league. Players are the boss!”

Vernon is one of many NFL players who kneels during the national anthem as a way to protest police brutality and social injustice and the only Giants player to consistently do so.

Vernon, whose father is a retired Miami police officer, has been kneeling since Week 3 after Trump referred to any player who knelt as a “son of a bitch” during a speech in Alabama.

“I don’t care if you’re the president or not,” Vernon said at the time. “You ain’t my president.”

The league has had several discussions with players about social issues and work in the community since then, but has not made any rules to require players to stand for the national anthem.

“Just because you got money or whatever and you play a high level sport, you’re supposed to be OK with what’s going on?” Vernon said back in Week 3. “I don’t understand how that’s right. So I’m just gonna continue what I’m doing as a citizen of the U.S.”
