Uh, no Canada
Teen in granny slay tried to cross border
A FLORIDA TEEN wanted in connection with the death of his grandmother was detained while trying to enter Canada on Friday.
Both Logan Mott and Kristina French (pictured) were reported missing after they didn’t arrive at the airport to pick up the teen’s dad and girlfriend on Wednesday, CBS News reported.
When the couple arrived, they learned their Neptune Beach home had been ransacked and that guns were missing from the safe.
The Neptune Beach Police and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office — where Mott’s father works as a corrections officer — launched an investigation that uncovered “possible criminal violence inside the home,” officials said.
Cops later discovered remains in a shallow grave in the backyard that appear to belong to French, 53, though they have not yet officially been identified, according to authorities.
During a Friday press conference, authorities said they had surveillance video of a person matching Mott’s description in Pennsylvania.
The video appeared to show Mott, 15, driving a car similar to his grandmother’s — a silver Dodge Dart, according to First Coast News — which was reported stolen Wednesday.
Border patrol agents in Buffalo detained Mott that evening when he tried to get into Canada.
Before Mott got caught, police had warned that he was likely armed and dangerous.
But officials have emphasized that Mott is only a person of interest in the case — not a suspect — and they’re looking to “talk to him about what happened at the house.”
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Director Ron Levenday told the news station they’re in the process of obtaining an arrest warrant for Mott on auto-theft charges, however.
Mott’s mom, Carrie CampbellMott, said in a statement to “Good Morning Ameria” that she was “relieved” he was found safe.
