Rape charges in W’chester for city teach
A CITY SCHOOL teacher who works as a wrestling coach at an upscale Westchester high school has been busted on rape charges, authorities said Wednesday.
Police arrested Tyler Sick, 29, on Monday, accusing him of illegal sexual contact with a minor.
Sick, who lives in Tarrytown, works as an assistant coach at Edgemont High School in Greenburgh.
Cops wouldn’t describe the specific allegations against Sick, but the Westchester County Jail website shows he faces rape charges. He is being held on $45,000 bail.
Sick has been suspended from his job as a teacher at the East Bronx Academy for the Future, where he has worked for a year.
“These allegations are extremely troubling,” said Education Department spokesman Douglas Cohen. “Mr. Sick was immediately reassigned away from students and was removed from payroll.”
Greenburgh Police are asking “any students that may have had inappropriate contact” with Sick to call Detective Nick Parikka at (914) 989-1736.
