Kanter King of the drama

-

Insult LeBron James multiple times? Check. Get reprimanded by the front office for encouraging teammates to fight? Check. Call yourself a crybaby? Check. Serve as the catalyst and emotional leader of a Knicks victory? Check, again. Enes Kanter continued his relentlessly entertaining journey as the Knicks’ starting center by dropping game-highs in points (22) and rebounds (14), as the Knicks pummeled the Heat on Wednesday, 115-86.

Kanter had missed the previous three games with back spasms – all defeats – but still managed to carry the storylines with hyperbolic quotes and online jabs thrown at James.

Even after Wednesday’s game, Kanter posted on Twitter a video of ‘Arthur,’ the same cartoon character James used earlier this month to cryptically voice his displeasure with the Cavs.

“I got nothing personal. He’s one of the best players in the world, best player in our league. But I got nothing personal,” Kanter said just a few minutes before his latest dig at James.

The attention will be positive so long as Kanter continues to play the best basketball of his career. On Wednesday, he only needed 25 minutes to amass his gaudy stats. The Knicks outscored Miami by 24 points when Kanter was on the floor.

“Enes was a monster today,” said Porzingis, who was sidelined for all but 2 ½ minutes of the game because of a sprained ankle. “He’s just a monster on the boards. That gives us so much energy when he gets those second chance opportunities for us. He brings so much energy to us. His presence was felt today, by us and by the other team obviously. It’s good to have him back.”
