4.1 quake off Del. jolts NYC
AN EARTHQUAKE with a magnitude of 4.1 hit Delaware on Thursday afternoon, and was felt as far away as New York City.
The epicenter was recorded about 6 miles east-northeast of Dover at 4:47 p.m., the U.S. Geological Survey said.
People on social media said they felt the quake in Washington, D.C., New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia.
“Just felt my whole building shake in the East Village, NYC,” user @GMKevv tweeted.
The Delaware Emergency Management Agency said there were no reports of injuries or damage.
The last significant quake to hit the East Coast was in August 2011, when a magnitude-5.8 quake struck central Virginia.
