J-Lo says Bae-Rod should be Yank skipper

- BY MIKE MAZZEO

A-ROD HAS received an endorsement to be Yankees manager: This time, it’s from his girlfriend.

Yes, J. Lo voiced her support for Alex Rodriguez on Instagram and Twitter.

“It couldn’t be clearer...# arodforyankeesmanager @ arod @Yankees @mlb,” Jennifer Lopez tweeted Thursday afternoon.

Of course, Rodriguez isn’t an actual candidate to be Joe Girardi’s replacement. Hal Steinbrenner said at the Owners’ Meetings he had not spoken with him about the vacancy.

Plus, Rodriguez had the awkward retirement sendoff, sued a Yankees team doctor and has said he’s more interested in ownership. And currently, Rodriguez is an on-air talent for MLB on Fox.

However, that didn’t stop Carlos Beltran, who interviewed for the job Wednesday, from telling the Daily News earlier this month that Rodriguez could be a contender based on his “knowledge” and “capability.”

The Bombers have interviewed six managerial candidates thus far.

A day before J-Lo’s tweet, A-Rod, sporting a Yankees varsity jacket that he has been wearing around town this week, made an Instagram video detailing the three most important qualities that Girardi’s replacement should have:

1. Crystal Communication

“You have to speak everyday with the front office, your players and the media (twice) a day.” 2. Manage Sabermetrics “And while numbers are very important, it’s still a blend of old school and new Clear school, understanding that there are 25 players that are humans and are trying the best they can each and everyday.” 3. Teach & Motivate “You have to able to teach and talk the game of baseball, you have to be able to motivate and inspire 25 players to come out everyday and play hard-nosed baseball.”

A-Rod also listed three of the best young candidates who could make the transition from player to manager: 1. Raul Ibanez 2. Carlos Beltran and 3. David Ross.

The Bombers were interested in Ibanez, but he was more interested in staying in his current role in the Dodgers’ front office and spending time with his family. They interviewed Beltran, an intriguing candidate in his own right, on Wednesday. (And David Ortiz joked when the Astros won the World Series that A-Rod would make a good bench coach if Beltran became manager of the Bombers.)
