SO WHERE’S WEBB?
Angry ex-Giants plan to

OAKLAND — As Eli Manning said so presciently in September, “it can always get worse.” Fox’s Jay Glazer reported Sunday on Twitter that “a group of former Giants (are) discussing (a) plan to go to (the) Giants game next week all wearing Eli (Manning) jerseys on sideline. How will team handle that?” And Giant great Justin Tuck could not confirm the report but did continue voicing his own frustrations to the Daily News.
“Not sure if I’ll go to another game this season,” Tuck told the Daily News via text. “Haven’t decided.”
Amid an ESPN report that Ben McAdoo is about to be fired, Glazer also reported that the Giants sent a confidential email to all employees asking them “not to comment about (the) Eli situation” (because) of outside ramifications.”
So next Sunday’s 1 p.m. start against the Dallas Cowboys promises to be hostile from Giants fans and former players tired of McAdoo’s and the team’s futility and mismanagement this season.
But McAdoo said he isn’t concerned and even said he sympathizes with the fans and outrage over Manning’s benching.
“No, I’m not concerned,” McAdoo said. “Listen, I understand where the fans are coming from. If I was on the outside looking in, I’d feel the same way they feel.”
Rookie QB Davis Webb remained inactive for a 12th straight game despite McAdoo’s benching of Manning and desire to watch his other two quarterbacks play. Part of the reason is that McAdoo erred by not preparing Webb to play, basically running only scout team in practice. Still, it doesn't make sense to bench Manning to watch Geno Smith play but not Webb, the third-round pick out of Cal, who stood on the sideline next to Manning Sunday.
“It was a decision,” McAdoo said. “We put the best 46 up we thought could win the football game this week. We’ll take a look at it again next week.”
