While we may be bundled up for winter, soon it will be time to shed the layers and bare our skin. For those considering plastic surgery to get their bikini-body ready for a spring vacation or summer beach getaway, the time to start is now.

We spoke with Dr. Robert Goldstein of Bronx Plastic Surgery about plastic surgery options and how to choose a practitioner.

For people who are considering body work when should they start?

It’s not too early to get ready for spring and summer. You need to plan in advance for procedures, taking our schedule and your schedule into consideration. The longer the lead time, the better the results allowing plenty of time to heal. What procedures do you offer? We offer a wide range of procedures for face, body and breast including breast augmentation, tummy tucks, arm lifts and liposuction. We can make cheek dimples, too. Dr. Heather Erhard, of Bronx Plastic Surgery, is one of a few plastic surgeons in the country who performs microsurgical breast reconstruction on a regular basis and she has done hundreds of them with a high rate of success. We specialize in providing natural plastic surgery results.

What should people look for when choosing a practitioner?

essential to go to a doctor who is board certified in plastic surgery. These days, patients really need to do the research and make sure to choose a plastic surgeon. There are many different types of doctors, including head and neck specialists and even orthopedists, as well as nurse aestheticians offering fillers and Botox. It’s very important to go to a plastic surgeon for these procedures because we can tailor the procedure to what suits the patient best, whether it be Botox, fillers or a procedure. We only operate and do procedures in accredited, certified facilities. How is your practice different? We are a hands-on practice. Dr. Goldstein and Dr. Erhard see all of the patients—they won’t be seen only by a physician assistant or a nurse practitioner. We are very proactive in patient care and in dealing with problems and concerns. What should people be wary of? We see a lot of patients who go to foreign countries for cosmetic procedures thinking it will be less expensive and they can make a vacation out of it. Very often, we see these patients coming to us afterwards for scarring or to fix something that was done incorrectly.

Dr. Goldstein and Dr. Erhard are happy to meet with you for a consultation. For more information on Bronx Plastic Surgery, visit www.bronxplasticsurgery. com or call (718) 405-7500.
