Ball drops! LaVar pulls son from UCLA

- BY EVAN GROSSMAN

Big-mouth basketball dad LaVar Ball is pulling his sticky fingered son LiAngelo out of school.

The Big Baller is withdrawing his son from UCLA out of frustration LiAngelo and two teammates remain suspended indefinitely as punishment for their arrest in China last month for shoplifting, as first reported by TMZ.

“I’m going to make him way better for the draft than UCLA ever could have,” LaVar Ball told ESPN in his latest obnoxious boast.

Ball continues to think the international incident should have been chalked up as a moronic mistake and his son is being unfairly penalized for being young and dumb.

“I’m not sitting back and waiting,” Ball said. “He wasn’t punished this bad in China … We get back over here and the consequences were even stiffer than China. So basically they’re in jail here.”

Ball and teammates Cody Riley and Jalen Hill are suspended under UCLA’s Student Conduct Code. Neither of the three have played in a game this season, and it appears LiAngelo Ball will leave UCLA after never actually playing a single minute for the school. While he did not record any points or rebounds, Ball did register one significant steal.

Thanks to some high-powered special treatment, the players were released from under house arrest in China while their teammates were allowed to leave the country, the charges were dropped, and they were permitted to return home. The international incident turned into a total gong show after President Trump indicated he helped free the players and Trump and LaVar Ball engaged in a public war of words when Ball refused to thank the president for intervening.

Trump tweeted he should have left the three in jail.

Ball has maintained that his son’s lapse in judgement “ain’t that big a deal.” LiAngelo Ball, Riley and Hill apologized for their actions, admitted to shoplifting during the team’s season-opening trip to China and thanked Trump for his diplomatic work.

The three were suspended by the school and LaVar Ball is frustrated that the punishment has not been lifted yet.

“We are exploring other options with Gelo,” Ball said, unsure of where LiAngelo will go next. “He’s out of there.”

LiAngelo is now the second son LaVar has pulled out of school this year. His youngest son, LaMelo, who is slated to follow his two older brothers to UCLA, was yanked out of Chino Hills High School so LaVar can home school him.

LaMelo is still in line to go to UCLA, Ball told ESPN. However, LaMelo may not even be eligible to play in college because he already has his own Big Baller Brand shoe.
