Watch heist tab is $700G on East Side

- BY KERRY BURKE, THOMAS TRACY and GRAHAM RAYMAN

A GUNMAN burst into a ritzy Upper East Side watch company Tuesday and stole 14 watches valued at $700,000, according to police.

The robber pulled a gun inside the A. Lange & Söhne store on Madison Ave. near E. 67th St. about 11:30 a.m., cops said. There were three employees and two customers inside.

The robber pulled his hood over his head and ordered everyone on the ground.

He forced an employee to open the cases. When one of the workers got nervous, he pulled out a metal object, smashed open a display case and grabbed the watches from that case and others.

The robber fled uptown on Madison and east on 67th St., cops said. The heist took less than five minutes, a police source said.

“It happened so fast,” the source said.

It was not immediately clear how he got in because the shop has a buzzer and a security guard. He may have followed another customer inside.

Timepieces from A. Lange & Söhne can range from $25,000 to $400,000.

The suspect was wearing an Adidas baseball cap, a gray jacket, zipped-up hoodie, jeans and brown boots, officials said.

All the watches have serial numbers, a police source said.

“If someone tries to sell them or get them repaired, they will run the numbers and they won’t be getting them back,” the source said.

A call to A. Lange & Söhne for comment was not immediately returned.
