DRUG-DRINK MIX FATAL TO L.I. FROSH
A LONG ISLAND college student died from a lethal combination of drugs and alcohol at SUNYOneonta, but the source of the toxic mix remains a mystery, police said. Freshman Daniel Michaels (photo), 18, of Dix Hills, was found unconscious early Saturday on a couch in a house on Academy St. in the upstate city. He died at a local hospital. An autopsy found amphetamine, benzodiazepine and a small amount of alcohol in his system, Otsego County Coroner Terry Knapp said. Oneonta police said foul play is not suspected, but investigators are looking for the source of the drugs.
