Sneak thieves ‘move’ in on R. Kelly home

- Jessica Schladebeck

WHILE SINGER R. Kelly was away on tour, thieves cleaned out his Atlanta home — and another house he was renting, police said.

Kelly’s cleaning woman discovered the burglaries and called cops on Nov. 26, Johns Creek, Ga., Police Capt. Chris Byers said. She told cops when she arrived at the mansion, “everything was gone.”

After investigators spoke to Kelly, they checked a house he’s leasing nearby and discovered that home was also completely empty, authorities said.

Neighbors told police they saw movers take objects out of Kelly’s place and load them into a truck. The day after that, cops returned and found the fake movers.

The movers told detectives that a man named Alfonso Walker, who did odd jobs for Kelly, told them the star was relocating to Chicago, police said.

Walker sold off Kelly’s belongings room by room, Byers said. Police found one man who paid nearly $6,000 for the musician’s things.

The search continues for Kelly’s missing belongings, and cops have issued a warrant for Walker’s arrest for burglary and theft.
