Sampson retrial bid
BROOKLYN FEDERAL prosecutors told appellate judges they should get another shot at showing that John Sampson embezzled about $400,000 from foreclosure sales — but the defense said no charges against the disgraced expol should stand.
Sampson, 52, is serving a fiveyear sentence for lying to the feds and obstruction. A judge previously tossed the embezzlement case, saying the statute of limitations had expired.
Prosecutors and defense lawyers clashed Thursday before the 2nd Circuit panel.
