FBI boss counters Prez’s rip at staff

- Denis Slattery

FBI DIRECTOR Christopher Wray on Thursday defended the agency President Trump has labeled in “tatters” and whose standing he said was the “worst in history.”

Wray’s testimony before the House Judiciary Committee was his first such appearance since taking the FBI’s helm in August — and his first public comments since Trump ripped the agency over the weekend. “There is no finer institution than the FBI, and no finer people than the men and women who work there and are its very beating heart,” Wray said.

Trump has targeted the bureau over the special counsel’s probe into Russian election meddling and its handling of investigations into Hillary Clinton.
