Cops set up perv in chat with girl
AN AFTER-SCHOOL worker was busted for raping a 13-yearold Bronx student after he was caught making incriminating statements in a phone call set up by police, sources said Thursday.
Michael Jenkins, 24, was speaking to his victim on a line monitored by cops when he expressed concern that he could be jailed for abusing the girl from Angelo Patri Middle School, sources said.
“I have nothing to worry about. Stay with your story that you were at your friend’s house,” Jenkins told her according to prosecutors. Officers were moved in after the call, knocking on his door and cuffing Jenkins (photo) as soon as he stepped outside, sources said. Jenkins, an employee of the nonprofit East Side Settlement House, was charged with rape and ordered held on $100,000 bond or $75,000 cash bail at his arraignment Thursday.
