DWI crash with baby in her car

- Thomas Tracy

A DRUNKEN mom’s SUV — with her 10-month-old daughter inside — flipped over when it slammed into a parked pickup truck and a tree in Long Island early Friday, police said.

Ludivia Jimenez lost control of her Ford Explorer on Route 112 in Coram and hit the truck just after midnight. The pickup slammed into a parked Lexus and Jimenez’s SUV struck a tree and landed on its side. Jimenez and her daughter were treated for minor injuries.

The mom was charged with driving without a license, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, also known as Leandra’s Law.

On Nov. 30, Suffolk County police arrested Desiree Dubois, 27, on identical charges after her car struck a parked vehicle in North Babylon. Her 2-year-old son was in the car, but unharmed.

Leandra’s Law is named after Leandra Rosado, an 11-year-old Chelsea girl killed in a booze-fueled crash on the Henry Hudson Parkway in 2009.
