Gun-carry bill is great for ISIS: Cy

LAWMAKERS and gun safety advocates rallied at City Hall Saturday to condemn a National Rifle Association-backed bill that would allow licensed gun owners to carry concealed weapons across state lines.

The House recently passed the Conceal Carry Reciprocity Act — legislation that critics say undermines New York’s strict weapons laws.

“If guns made us safer, we would be the safest nation on Earth,” Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Queens) said. “But in fact we are far from it.”

The bill was the first decisive action taken on guns in Congress since the Las Vegas shooting on Oct. 1 that left 58 innocent people dead and the Nov. 5 murder of 26 Texas churchgoers.

Maloney (photo top) blasted lawmakers from across the aisle for bowing to pressure from gun lobbyists and approving a law that will endanger cities like the Big Apple.

“Since Las Vegas and Texas, we’ve had 80 people killed by mass violence with guns,” she said. “What is the response of our Republicans in the legislature? They pass laws making it easier to carry concealed guns.”

Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. said the bill, now headed to the Senate, could also embolden terrorists targeting the city.

“This is not just me saying it. These are the words in ISIS’ magazine,” he said. “ISIS has specifically noted you can easily access weapons at 500-plus gun shows.

“And reciprocity is only going to make it easier,” he added.
