Starlin could still be Amazin’ in NYC
DON’T PACK your bags just yet, Starlin!
Starlin Castro may be one of the big pieces going to the Miami Marlins in the Yankees’ impending deal for Giancarlo Stanton, but the second baseman may not need to change addresses just yet.
A Mets team source confirmed to the Daily News on Saturday that once the Stanton deal is finalized, the club will check in with the Marlins about Castro to possibly fill their second base vacancy.
Castro is due roughly $22.7 million over the next two years with a team option of $16 million ($1 million buyout) in 2020, so it is conceivable he quickly could be sent away as part of the Marlins’ fire sale.
