DETERMINE IF THEY’LL TAKE QB IN THE TOP THREE

-

It will be tempting for the Giants to draft a quarterback, especially since they haven’t picked in the top four since 2004, when they swapped their fourth overall pick Philip Rivers to San Diego for the No. 1 overall selection, Manning.

UCLA’s Josh Rosen and USC’s Sam Darnold are getting all of the attention, but don’t forget about Louisville’s Lamar Jackson, a Heisman finalist again after winning the trophy in 2016, who could electrify Big Blue’s offense.

If the Giants believe in Webb or commit to Manning as the 17-week 2018 starter, there are plenty of other positions they’ll need to bolster: offensive line (Notre Dame’s Mike McGlinchey), linebacker (Georgia’s Roquan Smith) and running back (Penn State’s Saquon Barkley), among others.

Part of what makes this Giants GM or coaching vacancy so attractive, though, is the prospect of landing a top-tier QB in April. The leadup to the draft will be its own season in itself. offensive lineman Justin Pugh will be a free agent while strong safety Landon Collins is entering the final year of his rookie deal.
