M-Viv: I’ll win Elex Bd. scrap
CITY COUNCIL Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito wants Council members to fall in line and rubber-stamp her pick for the city Board of Elections.
Mark-Viverito has been pushing to install her pal Andrew Praschak as the Manhattan board commissioner before she leaves office at the end of the year — but has been hit by a lawsuit from the Manhattan Democratic Party and failed to get a quorum among Council Democrats who must sign off on the pick.
“We will prevail,” Mark-Viverito told reporters Monday at City Hall. “We have been implementing the process the way it has (been done for) many years, before I was even elected to the Council. And I believe that will stand up in court.”
