GILLY: TIME FOR TRUMPTOQUIT
NEW YORK Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand on Monday urged President Trump to step down over the “credible” and “numerous” allegations of sexual harassment against him. If Trump refuses to resign, Gillibrand (photo below) told CNN that Congress should launch a sweeping investigation into the President, who stands accused of sexually harassing or assaulting nearly two dozen women. “Whether (Trump) will ever hold himself accountable is something you really can’t hold your breath for, so Congress should have hearings,” she said. On Sunday, Gillibrand’s Democratic colleague, Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, similarly urged Trump to resign while campaigning for Doug Jones, the Democratic candidate facing accused child molester Roy Moore in Alabama’s Senate election. “I just watched Sen. Al Franken do the honorable thing and resign from his office,” said Booker, who like Gillibrand is considered a likely 2020 candidate for President. “My question is, why isn’t Donald Trump doing the same thing,” he said, noting he has “more serious allegations against him, with more women who have come forward.”
