Giant effort for hobbled Collins

-

THE Giants awaited news on Justin Pugh’s second opinion on his back injury sought Wednesday that could shut their top offensive lineman down for the season. He’s missed five of the past six games. Landon Collins’ situation is a bit different. Collins has played in all 13 games, lugging a bum left ankle through Weeks 5 through 7. But after re-injuring his ankle last Sunday against the Cowboys, it’s reasonable to consider shutting the strong safety down. But Collins, despite missing Wednesday’s practice, isn’t exactly high on that idea. “No, I’m still young,” Collins, 23, said Wednesday. “Maybe if I was 26 or 27 or something like that, maybe I would consider it then, but not now. I’m still young right now … Actually, this ankle injury is 10 times better than the one I had against the Chargers (in Week 5). If you could go through all the stuff that happened, I should have never played the next three games.”

TOYS FOR TOTS

The Giants and Toyota, in partnership with the United States Marines, will hold their annual Toys for Tots drive at MetLife Stadium when they host the Eagles on Sunday. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to any of the collection vehicles and volunteers located at each entrance to the stadium prior to the game. Uniformed Marine Corps Reserves will be on hand to assist in collecting these gifts.
