Sex-rap GOPer won’t run again
REPUBLICAN Rep. Blake Farenthold said he would not seek reelection in 2018 following several allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior from former staff members.
The scandal-plagued Texas congressman added he would serve out the remainder of his term and has vehemently denied the accusations against him, according to ABC.
His decision comes after the House Ethics Committee earlier this month said it would investigate whether he sexually harassed a former staffer.
Lauren Greene, Farenthold’s communications director who was fired from the office in 2014, went on to file a lawsuit, claiming he told her had “sexual fantasies” about her. Politico earlier this month reported he settled that 2015 suit for $84,000 in taxpayer money. THE WIDOW of Kentucky lawmaker Dan Johnson, who killed himself Wednesday amid sexual-assault allegations, plans to run for her husband’s seat.
“Dan is gone, but the story of his life is far from over,” Rebecca Johnson said Thursday. “These high-tech lynchings and half-truths can’t be allowed to win the day.”
Johnson, 57, fatally shot himself Wednesday night after his fellow state representatives called on him to resign when a woman, then 17, said Johnson forced himself on her in the basement of his home on New Year’s Eve 2012.
Johnson also made questionable claims that he was at Ground Zero on 9/11.
