“I don’t know John Skipper’s situation, but in general: so many people with addiction struggles would seek treatment more readily — and it’d be more available — if society treated it as what it is (a health issue) rather than a criminal or moral one.”

On the other side of the coin, Barstool Sports President Dave Portnoy posted and retweeted a series of classless posts that celebrated Skipper’s downfall.

Internet provocateu­r Clay Travis, who regularly trashes ESPN, is not buying Skipper’s story and questioned when the “real” one is coming out.

“ESPN’s president ‘resigns’ for ‘substance abuse issues’ one month after signing a four year contract extension, five days after addressing all talent in Bristol, & four days after Disney/ ESPN deal.” Travis tweeted. “So when does the real story come out?”
