2 public radio hosts are out

-

LEONARD LOPATE and Jonathan Schwartz are going off the air for good.

Two weeks after Lopate and Schwartz were suspended, they’ve been fired from New York Public Radio. Lopate hosted the Leonard Lopate Show for 32 years. Schwartz hosted The Jonathan Channel and also had a Sunday music show.

Two outside investigations found that both Lopate and Schwartz acted in a way that directly violated NYPR’s “standards for providing an inclusive, appropriate, and respectful work environment,” the company said in a statement.

Schwartz told WNYC the allegations were “hurtful.” Lopate told WNYC he was innocent.
