Bitcoin plunges 33% in one day
BITCOIN PRICES slumped sharply Friday, wiping out at least a third of the cryptocurrency’s value in just 24 hours.
The price dropped just below $11,000 Friday morning before later rebounding to just over $14,000 — which is still 25% less than where figures stood earlier in the week, according to data from CoinDesk.com.
Bitcoin’s worth had soared in recent weeks, though Friday’s figures bring it back down to the price it was being traded for at the beginning of the month.
Prices in November skyrocketed from less than $10,000 in November to just below $20,000 on Sunday — its all-time high. At the beginning of the year, the digital currency cost less than $1,000.
