Ex-campaign guy may ‘gag’ on video

- Denis Slattery

A FORMER TRUMP campaign official facing federal charges may have violated a gag order by making a video thanking people who attended a fund-raiser for his legal defense fund.

The federal judge overseeing the case against Rick Gates and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort on Friday ordered Gates to explain a video in which he said he was “humbled and grateful” for the attendees’ contributions.

In the video, aired at an event hosted by Washington lobbyist Jack Burkman Tuesday, Gates noted the gag order and said he could not discuss details of the case.

Gates and Manafort are facing money-laundering and other charges brought by special counsel Robert Mueller. The judge also ordered that Gates explain his relationship with Burkman.
