Webb inactive for Cards

-

Two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning will take the snaps Sunday in Arizona and Geno Smith will be the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart, Giants interim coach Steve Spagnuolo said Friday.

That means rookie QB Davis Webb is third on the depth chart, and he will be on the outside looking in once again after Spagnuolo confirmed Friday that Webb will be inactive Sunday. Webb got 12 repetitions total this week against first-team defense units, and offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan said Thursday that Webb did well reading the defense.

Webb could possibly play in the season finale against Washington on Dec. 31 at MetLife Stadium. Manning has already gotten benched earlier this season by since-fired coach Ben McAdoo. With nothing to play for by Week 17, it would be an ideal time to give Webb a chance.

“It’s going to stay the same right now unless something changes between now and Sunday. Geno (Smith) is still the second,” Spagnuolo said Friday of the QB depth chart.

COLLINS QUESTIONABLE

In addition to Jason Pierre-Paul’s injury woes — he revealed Friday that he has a broken finger on his right hand — safety Landon Collins (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against Arizona. “He’s questionable right now. I mean, he got a little bit of work (Friday) and didn’t get much the other days, so we’ll have to see when we get to Sunday,” Spagnuolo said of Collins. Spagnuolo said Collins is eager to play — “That’s a definite,” said the coach — but it will depend on how the safety feels Sunday.

LARRY LEGEND

Spagnuolo had nothing but high praise for Cardinals wideout Larry Fitzgerald. “There’s admiration and appreciation. He’s been doing it at a high level for a long time. He’s a class guy. I’m sure it raises the level of that whole (Arizona) offense to have a guy like that with all that experience. He’s got the competitive greatness, which all the great ones have. He’s a guy we’ve got to be concerned about, obviously,” said Spagnuolo.

ROMEO IS READY

Defensive end Romeo Okwara, who was activated earlier this week, is expected to see playing time Sunday. Okwara sprained his knee earlier this year and was placed on injured reserve Oct. 18. “I think he’ll be ready to go. We’ve got to make a decision. We’ve got five defensive ends right now. I don’t know how many we’ll take for the game,” said Spagnuolo…Linebacker B.J. Goodson (ankle) and wide receiver Tavarres King (concussion) are out for Sunday’s game… Safety Nat Berhe (hamstring) is questionable.
