‘MISS’ FIRE!

Beauty pageant boss quits in email scandal

- BY NICOLE BITETTE

THE CEO OF the Miss America Organization resigned Saturday after his sexist and degrading emails about former contestants were made public.

Sam Haskell stepped aside a day after leaked internal emails surfaced showing him bashing and slut-shaming women.

Organization president Josh Randle (inset right) also submitted his resignation just hours before Haskell’s resignation was announced. Fellow board members Tammy Haddad and Chairman Lynn Weidner also resigned in the wake of the scandal, a spokesperson confirmed to the Daily News.

Weidner will transition out in 90 days, according to the organization. Board member Dan Meyers will serve as interim chairman.

Miss America 2013 Mallory Hagan, who was among the targets of Haskell’s crass missives, cheered the news of his resignation. “I’m really glad to see him go, but he’s not the only one that needs to step down,” Hagan told The News.

Miss America announced on Friday it would suspend Haskell (inset left) pending an investigation into the emails where he joked about contestants being “c---s” and called some of them “huge” and “gross.”

Dick Clark Productions, which puts on the show annually, cut ties with the pageant after Haskell’s emails came to light, calling them “appalling.”

Haskell is one of seven men on the 16-member board — and holds the highest-ranking role, raking in $500,000 per year. He declared on Friday that he accepted the suspension, but would not be resigning, calling his actions a “mistake of words.” “Those who know my heart know that this is not indicative of my character, nor is it indicative of my business acumen,” Haskell said. “I was under stress from a full year of attacks by two Miss Americas, and while I don’t ever want to offer an excuse, I do want to offer context.” In the wake of the scandal, at least 49 former Miss Americas called for the organizations leaders to resign.
