2018 Infiniti QX80

-

Infiniti’s offering in the fullsize luxury SUV segment, the QX80, is the recipient of a significant overhaul for the 2018 model year.

infiniti unveiled the 2018 QX80 at the 2017 Dubai international motor Show, revealing an exterior that received subtle changes to the hood, front fenders, grille, as well as a new headlight and taillamp design with LED fog lights and side indicators. The rear end also received some attention with an updated hatch design.

The interior of the 2018 QX80 is updated as well, with new stitching throughout, a quilted design on the seats, redesigned leather shift knob, and changes to the steering wheel. additionally, new upgrades are available for larger secondrow screens, an HDMI auxiliary port, and two extra headphone jacks for second-row passengers.

Two different 2018 QX80 models are available, customers having the ability to choose 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive. Two-wheel-drive models begin at $65,745, while 4WD QX80s begin around $68,845. Both utilize a 7-speed automatic transmission to deliver the 5.6-liter V8’s output of 400 horsepower and 413 lb.-ft. of torque to the chosen drive wheels.

What we think

When it comes to big, luxurious SUVS, the 2018 infiniti QX80 is certainly a well-equipped example that has undergone refinements to make it even more appealing.

Even with all of the changes, one thing that does remain the same is the 5.6-liter V8 engine. Some may argue that the power plant is outdated, though the V8 enables the QX80 to seat up to 8 people and still tow up to 8,500 pounds. infiniti likely made this decision in order to make other changes possible, applying the adage, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
