ONE PERSON suffered serious injuries and three others were hurt in a fire that broke out in a Queens apartment building Tuesday, officials said.

The blaze erupted on the first floor on in the building on 78th Road near Main St. in Flushing just after 3 p.m.

“When my boyfriend saw the fire trucks he started following them, he’s the handyman here, he helped firemen drop down the escape ladder behind the building,” said resident Rose Ingram.

“He said a tenant, or an owner, came out with badly burned hands. That’s the only person he saw burned. A woman with two kids came out too, they weren’t burned, thank God.”

Medics took all four of the injured to New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, officials said.

Firefighters extinguished the flames just before 4 p.m. The blaze appeared confined to the first floor and caused little external damage to the building.

“Thank God no one was killed and it didn't spread to other homes. You always hear about fires this time of year, you just never know when it can happen,” Ingram said.
