More than one Steve Jobs OK

- Constance Gibbs

THE NAME Steve Jobs is synonymous with Apple, and now it will be synonymous with jeans.

An Italian clothing company has won a five-year trademark battle against Apple over use of its founder’s name.

Brothers Vincenzo and Giacomo Barbato noticed the name was not trademarked by the tech giant, so they started their company with the founder’s name in 2012. Despite Apple’s attempts, courts in Europe have granted the Barbatos the right to use the moniker (inset) — and a logo of a J with a chunk bitten out of it, flanked by a leaf.

The brothers likened their legal battle with the Cupertino based company as a battle of David versus Goliath.

They told Business Insider Italia they plan to team up with a Chinese company to make Steve Jobs electronics.
