Fed’s wrong on shoot: Pa. cops
AUTHORITIES IN Pennsylvania are pushing back against an initial judgment from the Trump administration suggesting that a shooting in Harrisburg was rooted in terrorism.
Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marco said Thursday that gunman Ahmed Amin El-Mofty, who was killed by police officers after he opened fired on authorities in the state’s capital last week, had no known ties to any terror groups, Penn Live reported.
Family previously told investigators El-Mofty was depressed about money problems and relationships with his loved ones. Pennsylvania State Police suspect he acted alone during the Dec. 22 shooting, which left a state trooper injured.
A motive has not yet been established, though investigators believe he was targeting officers.
Tyler Houlton, acting press secretary for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, was quick to condemn immigration policy and labeled the shooting rampage as a “terror attack” in a statement shared to social media.
