Flammable fiend held in gem rob
A FIREBUG robbed a Lower East Side jewelry store after dousing a worker with lighter fluid and threatening to set her ablaze, police said Sunday.
Cops arrested would-be arsonist Kevin Scurry after the woman’s fellow workers chased him down the street and he was spotted by cops.
Scurry entered the Yaf Sparkle Jewelry boutique on Orchard St. near Stanton St. about 3:10 p.m. Saturday pretending to be a customer.
When a worker showed him a particular bauble, he doused her with lighter fluid while holding a cigarette lighter, cops said.
He grabbed the jewelry and ran off — only to be chased by other workers, according to police.
None of the workers was hurt. The stolen loot was found discarded on Rivington St. The police charged Scurry with robbery.
