- James Fanelli

IT’S A LESSON in giving.

City teachers have been rallying around students at a school hard hit by the inferno that killed 12 people in a Bronx apartment building.

Staff at Public School 205 in Belmont have organized a fundraiser on YouCaring.com to help out children and families affected by the blaze. The account — started Saturday — had already received nearly $15,000 in donations by Sunday evening.

“As we watched the horror unfolding on the news, we instantly knew our students and their families were among those affected,” the fund-raiser’s organizer, teacher Brittany Dura, wrote on the page.

A second-grade student at PS 205 died in the fire, according to the YouCaring page. Another student was seriously injured.

“We are all just totally devastated by this,” Dura wrote on the page.

“In addition, several of our students have lost their homes and all of their possessions. At this time of year, in this frigid weather, the losses are even more tragic.”

The donations will be used to buy basic necessities for victims.

Among the victims of the fastmoving Thursday fire were Karen Stewart-Francis, 37, and her two daughters, Kelesha, 7, and Kylie, 2.

The deadly blaze also left dozens of people homeless.
