ADMIT IT: HE’S NUTS

-

It’s well past time that every elected official puts their balls back on and admits that the President of the United States has lost his mind, has become a danger to each and every human on the planet and should be removed from office.

It’s not just their jobs they need to protect any longer, or their parties that they need to fight for — it’s the very continued existence of our democracy, which under Donald J. Trump is becoming a demoralized, dysfunctional democrazy.

In evidence, I present Saturday morning’s Kafka-worthy Twitter rant, “….Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart.” Like, really? Then: “Crooked Hillary Clinton also played these cards very hard and, as everyone knows, went down in flames. I went from VERY successful businessman, to top T.V. Star .... to President of the United States (on my first try). I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius .... and a very stable genius at that!” Like, who knew? Only a mentally unstable (not to mention near-illiterate) person would write that about themselves.

Unfortunately, in order for the fool on the Hill to be declared mentally “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office” via the 25th Amendment, the vice president and a majority of cabinet secretaries (or another body determined by Congress) would have to put that in writing and present it to Senate President Pro Tempore Orrin Hatch and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.

Good luck with that, sister.

That is the only way short of impeachment that this country can be freed from the grip of tyrannical stupidity.

Philosopher Joseph de Maistre was wrong in believing that every nation gets the government it deserves. I prefer to believe the quote attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville: “America is great because she is good.”

And “she” is too good to deserve this bad government.
