SPITZ HAPPENS
Ben Vereen is the latest harasser, assaulter, pervin-charge to get hit with sexual misconduct allegations. And he, too, is so so sorry. After the fact. Seems like every day another legend’s legend dies in the pit of slime. And Sunday night, Hollywood will stand in solidarity with all the victimized women by — yes — wearing black to the Golden Globes. After all, nothing says “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this” louder than wearing 15 bazillion bucks worth of black designer duds to a fake awards show. If that doesn’t stop all that rape and all those assaults in Hollywood, well, hell, nothing will.
First it was the females who decided to wear black in protest and then the act-tors decided that they too would show what feminists they are by wearing black tuxedos. As opposed to what? Lime green track suits?
They should start the protest against abuse in the industry by not showing up at this abuse of an awards show.
And raise your hand if you think the speeches they’ll give about the shock and outrage they felt upon “discovering” that so many of the kings in their industry actually traded sex for roles, or raped and harassed (mostly) women who were trying to catch a break, are real.
You in the back, put your hand down. I know you’re lying.
These people work in an industry that sells sex as shamelessly as pimps at a porn convention, while pretending it’s art, and then act shocked — shocked! — that the casting couch really exits.
But they will put on a black tux to show how deeply they care.
They should have shown their support when it counted, when the abuse was rampant and they all knew it, but chose to stay silent. Silence makes them complicit in the crimes. They shouldn’t be wearing black, they should be wearing stripes. It must be said too, that some women were complicit in this disgrace as well. Those who entered into a so-called “nonconsensual sexual relationship” (whatever the hell that is) or took big bucks to shut up didn’t help
the cause either. A recording of a man sounding very much like Client 9 — former New York Gov. Idiot, er, Eliot Spitzer — threatens Spitzer’s former “lover,” shakedown artist Svetlana Zakharova Travis, with a slow, painful death. As he so articulately points out: “You f---ing b---. You piece of s---. And then you f---ing destroy my life! You know what’s going to happen to you? You’re going to be f---ing dead. You’re going to die a slow, painful death and your family is going to look at you and laugh because you’re a f---ing b----.” Why? Because he’s a f---ing steamroller, baby, that’s why. All of which brings us back to Ben Vereen, who was just outed for sexual misconduct with the volunteer cast of a community theater production of “Hair” in 2015. Some of the women in the show with the famously naked scene told him to back the hell off, and some didn’t and are now complaining. One woman who had sex with Vereen said it was because he told them all that not all nudity was sexual and so she somehow thought that giving him oral sex in the hot tub wouldn’t be sexual either. She convinced herself it was spiritual. Unless you’re having sex with the ghost of, say, St. Anthony or some long-dead prophet in the hot tub, it’s not spiritual, it’s just sex with an old tap dancer. But some people will believe anything a rich and famous actor says. In fact, some people will even believe the rich and famous actors in black are really mad as hell about all the sexual abuse in Hollywood. They’re mad all right — mad that the free ride is (temporarily) over.
