who is a favorite to garner her third Oscar nomination for her turn in
coming-ofage film “Lady Bird” knows that all the hype surrounding the award season and has her pals back home in Ireland to help her out.
“We’re all getting a giggle out of it,” the 23-year-old actress (above) told Confidential at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. “They’re brilliant, they’re so supportive and they’re kind of right there along with me and they’re a part of it.”
Ronan, who was born in the Bronx and raised on the Emerald Isle, says that the way she was brought up has helped keep her grounded and “not running away with yourself as they say back home. If your focus is the work, then all the other stuff is an added bonus.”
One of the bonuses that Ronan received for her last Oscar nod in 2015 for “Brooklyn” was a free trip to Israel, which she still hasn’t used.
So why hasn’t she gone to nosh on some falafel in the Holy Land?
“I don’t know!” Ronan exclaimed.
