WHO SHOULD BE HER VEEP?

- Chris Sommerfeldt

ONE DAY after Oprah Winfrey delivered a Golden Globes speech that had the internet clamoring for a presidential run, one obvious question lingered on everybody’s minds: who would be her running mate?

Winfrey, 63, has ties to plenty of bigwigs who might be willing to serve as her vice presidential candidate, should she decide to launch a White House bid in 2020.

Cory Booker

Winfrey is close with the New Jersey senator and has been spotted at several of his political events.

In 2013, Winfrey headlined a Booker fund-raiser held at an upscale Jersey City restaurant.

Gayle King

While Gayle King might not have the political chops that Booker does, she certainly has the personal ones. The CBS anchor has been friends with Winfrey for over four decades and worked as a special correspondent for “Oprah,” and as an editor for Winfrey’s namesake magazine.

Dr. Phil

What better match for Winfrey than her protégé talk show host, Phillip McGraw?

“I feel like I raised this dude,” she said during an appearance on McGraw’s namesake show in 2015, adding, “I must say, I done good raising you!”

The Rock

After Winfrey’s Sunday night speech, scores of Twitter users entertained the idea of Winfrey tapping Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson as her running mate. The actor said last month that he’s “seriously considering” launching a bid of his own.
