Dems put out Max effort to flip S.I. seat

- Jillian Jorgensen

THE DEMOCRATIC Congressional Campaign Committee is eyeing a Staten Island candidate as a contender to flip a House seat of a Republican.

Max Rose, running for the seat now held by Rep. Dan Donovan, has been selected for the DCCC’s “Red to Blue” program — one of just 18 candidates so far nationwide to make the list.

DCCC chairman Ben Ray Luhan called Rose “one of the strongest challengers in the country.”

“As an U.S. Army combat veteran, Infantry Company Commander in the National Guard and nonprofit executive, Max Rose has dedicated his life to serving America and giving back to New York City,” he said.

The program isn’t a DCCC endorsement, but it does help arm candidates with organizational and fund-raising support.

Rose has already posted strong fund-raising — raking in $330,000 in the fourth quarter of last year.

“We are proud to be recognized as one of the top campaigns in the country and we’re just getting started,” Rose said.

Donovan is being challenged from the right in a primary by excon and ex-Rep. Michael Grimm.
